Giveaway! The Kids Are All Right - Free Passes!

Thanks to Hopscotch Films BrisStyle is giving away 10 complementary in season passes to the fabulous new film The Kids Are All Right!

THE KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT

In Cinemas September 2, 2010

It's all about family! The most talked-about movie at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival, The Kids Are All Right combines wonderful comedy with warm-hearted emotion in a vibrant and richly drawn portrait of a modern family. The Allgoods share a cozy Southern Californian home, experiencing life's typical ups and down. 18-year old daughter Joni (Australia's Mia Wasikowska) is heading off to Stanford University and starting to distance herself from her parents; 14-year-old Laser is hanging out with a deadbeat friend who constantly leads him into trouble. The only difference is, this family has two mums. Jules (Julianne Moore) and Nic (Annette Bening) have been together for years, deeply in love. When their two children decide to seek out their biological sperm donor-dad Paul (Mark Ruffalo), the household will never be the same again. Paul is a bachelor whose sudden longing for a family introduces an interesting dynamic to the not-quite-ordinary equation of the Allgoods. Funny, smart and sexy, this pitch-perfect film features brilliant performances from its acclaimed cast and The Kids Are All Right is proving to be this year's independent breakout hit.

Hats by Elvenhair at BiDM!

Eliza from Elvenhair has taken a new direction this year with her newest creations - hats! These will be unveiled at the September 4th BrisStyle Indie Designer Market. The new Elvenhair hat range has something for everyone, fishermen hats for men, hats for babies, newsboy and bucket hats for boys, pretty little hats for girls and beautiful sun hats with wide shady brims for ladies.

The past year has been an interesting journey for Eliza. After taking a year off to look after her friend Zoe who had a spinal injury she was raring to have a go at a new craft, and hats fitted the bill exactly. Eliza said "I could make them inside, unlike my previous wood turnings. It's easy to pick them up, do a few rows, put them down if Zoe needed me, then pick them up again. I've even had Zoe involved, and she is brilliant at making brightly coloured flowers and yo-yo flowers to decorate the hats!"

Eliza would love to see you at the upcoming.....

Oz Wildlife Studio at BiDM!

The September 4th BrisStyle Indie Designer Market will be the very first market for Lesley of Oz Wildlife Studio. In the lead up to the big day Lesley has been busy in the studio creating prints and products. She will be showcasing her range of garden guest photographs such as rainbow lorikeets, galahs and sulphur-crested cockatoos who visit frequently and allow her to get fairly close with her camera. Lesley's favourite time to photograph these delightful characters is on rainy days when their feathers are all fluffed up and they get warm and cosy with each other, huddling and bracing the wind and rain.

Oz Wildlife Studio will also be launching their brand new collection of vector illustrations which involved Lesley mastering the art of Adobe Illustrator to sketch and colour her "Australian Rainforest" creatures. These illustrations are highly detailed and brightly coloured and would appeal to children and would make gorgeous wall decorations in the nursery.

Oz Wildlife Studio are also preparing many other products ready for their market launch including key rings, fridge magnets, coasters, calendars, books marks and lots more.

New products from Rock Ribbons at BiDM!

Deborah from Rock Ribbons has been busy experimenting with new techniques to bring shoppers some exciting new products at the BrisStyle Indie Designers Market on 4 September!

"I've been working on a new (for me) technique called Kumihimo. The term Kumihimo in Japanese language means the gathering of threads. The literal translation of Kumihimo means the 'coming together (kumi) of threads (himo)'. This technique involves using several highly developed looms for specific types of braids.

For this collection, I have woven together 8 strands of 3mm satin ribbon. Each necklace is highlighted with a hand crafted murano glass teardrop pendant and finished with a sterling silver or gold filled magnetic clasps. Also each necklace comes with a matching bracelet to complete the look."

To check out Rock Ribbons new products in person head to the BrisStyle Indie Designers Market
