The theme for Tribe was born from Annie’s travel to Africa in 2011. ‘When I was in Africa I experienced nature at its best, the natural world of the animal kingdom and the realness and rawness of the way they live; each unable to live without the other; each animal unique and equally important for a sustainable society.’

‘Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken’. This quote is a great analogy of the power of community, particularly in our modern society.

In our world here at Rosebed St Gallery we experience the support and richness of connection. Over the past 17 months many individuals, groups and families have become part of our ‘tribe’ as they have gently woven their way into our lives bringing depth, heart and building our core stronger… without this support we wouldn’t be here.

‘Tribe’ speaks to us here at the gallery of community and the power of working together in synergy. We want this exhibition to celebrate ours and your community.

‘Tribe’ will showcase work from 26 artists, with 24 of these artists coming from the Sunshine Coast; consisting of painters, photographers, printmakers, sculptors, textile artists and ceramicists. Tribe features one of our very own Brisstyle members Robyn Woodrow and artists including Carley Cornellissen and Linda Cooper.
