Pull up a deck chair, relax and put yourself in caravanning mode…urban caravanning mode that is, right in the heart of Brisbane city’s King George Square! Think two-toned retro caravan ( courtesy of Kris from the Best Little Vintage Van in Vegas), market stalls filled with locally handmade craft, hands-on craft workshops, demonstrations and professional development advice delivered by local crafters. (Along with the odd pink flamingo and some yarn bombing thrown in for good measure).
Highlights of the day will include:
BrisStyle indie Market
Stalls :: A showcase of the local BrisStyle craftisans that you have come to know and love through
the indie Twilight Markets will bring King George Square to life with their
amazing locally crafted handmade wares. Expect unique, quality goods along with
all day crafting demonstrations at many of the stalls.
All day 'make and take' Oasis :: All day craft drop in zone themed around 'Holidaying in your own backyard' and appealing to intergenerational beginners through to those with advanced skills. Make your very own retro caravan brooch or magnet or colour in until your hearts content.
Craft focus :: Local
crafters will be on hand to demonstrate their skills and engage
participants. Located in the Craft Caravan Oasis adjacent to the all day 'make
and take' workshop area.
Yarn Bombing with the Brisbane Brown Owls :: Bring in your knitting or come
in and create your own to add to the decorations throughout the square. The Brisbane Brown Owls will be leading the charge so join them in their
creative yarn decoration of King George Square.
3things :: The crew from 3things will help to activiate the square spreading global goodness and discovering what your 3things would be to help change the world. Write them on the little blackboards provided and have your photo taken with your '3things' to be put up on their blog site.
